Town boss Paul Jewell has named an unchanged side for the third game running as the Blues look for a third win on the trot against Tony Mowbray’s Middlesbrough at Portman Road this afternoon. Jewell has also picked the same subs as at Coventry a week ago.

Town recorded their first double of the season with a form book-shredding 5-1 victory over Championship leaders West Ham at Portman Road. Michael Chopra opened the scoring in the third minute, Daryl Murphy adding the second in a frantic period before the break in which Jack Collison pulled one back for the Hammers and Lee Martin made it 3-1 from the spot. In the second half, Jay Emmanuel-Thomas netted the night’s best goal, a low 35-yard strike which beat Robert Green off his post, then added the fifth in the final moments.

Town boss Paul Jewell has made two changes from the side which lost 3-1 at Leeds 10 days ago. Suspended keeper Alex McCarthy is replaced by Arran Lee-Barrett, while Michael Chopra takes over from Jason Scotland up front.

Town were again guilty of suicidal defending as Leeds came from behind to win 3-1 at Elland Road. The excellent Andy Drury put the Blues ahead in the first half and Town looked on their way to the three points until a succession of calamitous defensive errors saw keeper Alex McCarthy sent off after he handled outside his area and the home side score three times.

Blackpool came from two goals behind to peg the Blues back to a 2-2 draw at Portman Road. Town looked to have had the game won via a first half own goal by Angel Martinez and a Tommy Smith header after the break, but subs Elliot Grandin and Kevin Phillips claimed a point for the Seasiders.

Town chief executive Simon Clegg says discussions are continuing with Ipswich Borough Council regarding the back rent owned on the land on which the Blues' Portman Road stadium stands. At an IBC executive meeting in October last year Town were given until December 31st to accept a new payment schedule which would see them begin repaying the £654,702 the council claim they are owed from June 1st in quarterly payments over four years.
